Where you start
Mambray Creek Day Visitor Area
Same west-side hub as Hidden Gorge. Toilets, picnic/BBQ, parking. Vehicle entry applies.
How to get there
- Highway 1 to Mambray Creek entrance. Park at the day visitor area.
How to do it (step by step)
- Walk the signed 2.4 km loop. Allow an hour plus sunset linger time.
- Stay on the track. Take rubbish out.
What to expect
Official: 2.4 km loop, allow 1 hour, from Mambray Creek Day Visitor Area. The point is a short west-side walk with Spencer Gulf sunset views — not Hidden Gorge compressed into an hour.
How the hour works
Park at the day visitor area (not campground pads). Toilets and picnic/BBQ are here. Vehicle entry already paid. Pair with Wirra Water if the group still has energy; do not invent Hidden Gorge afterwards on a first afternoon.
Hazards
Uneven ground, heat, snakes in warm months. Still take rubbish out. Coverage can be patchy even this close to the hub.
Turning around
It is a loop back to the day area. Skip the sunset linger if you are racing daylight for the Adelaide drive.
Packing list (jacket, grip, water) lives on the gear hub, not as a shop list on every walk. Pairing and a shorter option: plan your visit · Mambray Creek family loops.

Extra tips
- Pairs with Wirra Water Loop for a family Mambray afternoon.
- Better first walk than Hidden Gorge after a long drive.
Often paired with Wirra Water— only if energy and weather allow.
